Join us as we celebrate the retirement of Richard Allen,
Principal and San Diego Office Manager, after nearly 22 years with GUIDA!
As we bid a heartfelt farewell to Richard Allen, a guiding force at GUIDA for nearly 22 years, we take a moment to celebrate the remarkable career of our esteemed Principal and San Diego Office Manager. Richard has been an integral part of GUIDA’s growth and success, leaving an indelible mark on our projects, our team, and the San Diego landscape.
Over the past two decades, Richard’s contributions have been nothing short of extraordinary. From his early days as a surveyor to his role as the San Diego Office Manager, he has showcased unparalleled expertise in construction staking, boundary/ALTA Surveys, topography, design surveys, monumentation, mapping, and a myriad of land surveying tasks. His commitment to excellence has consistently impressed both colleagues and clients alike.
Tim Fettig, a long-time coworker and supervisor, aptly describes Richard as a “one-man wrecking machine,” highlighting his ability to handle projects from start to finish with unparalleled skill and dedication. Richard’s impact extends beyond his technical prowess; he is equally renowned for his willingness to help others and his unwavering dedication to client satisfaction.
Having managed the San Diego Office operations for close to 19 years, Richard has played a pivotal role in the office’s growth and success. His love for land surveying is evident in his career trajectory, from enrolling in survey courses in high school to owning and operating his own firm, Front Range Development West, before joining GUIDA. The lessons learned during his entrepreneurial journey have shaped Richard into the exceptional Office and Project Manager he is today.
Richard’s favorite projects, including high rise construction and tunneling ventures, reflect his passion for tangible, impactful work. His pride in seeing GUIDA’s contributions to the Downtown San Diego landscape and involvement in significant projects like the San Diego County Water Authority Pipeline and the All-American Canal are testaments to his distinguished career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard’s commitment to family is equally noteworthy. Not only has he mentored and worked alongside his sons, Steven and Brandon, but he has also had the joy of collaborating with his grandson, Jonathon—encompassing three generations of Allens within the GUIDA family.
As we express our gratitude for Richard’s hard work, dedication, and the value he has brought to our company, we wish him a well-deserved retirement filled with the same passion and fulfillment he brought to GUIDA for over two decades.
Congratulations, Richard, on an outstanding career,
and may this new chapter be as rewarding as the last!
